In collaboration with the Department of Internal Affairs, we were tasked with the creation of content and products across a number of projects as a part of their internal Pacific Leadership Programme, Avei’a.
To meet their objectives we divided our work into two main areas; graphic design and product design.. This saw us create promotional posters, a program booklet, and other print media. We also designed and manufactured (through 3d printing and laser-cutting) miniature vaka canoe kits for every participant to build and craft in workshops. By developing small build kits, they were able to align aspects of the vaka alongside specific values within their Avei’a Leadership framework. As the programme was for their Māori and Pasifika employees, the client emphasized the importance of incorporating Pasifika imagery. Two key colors were chosen to help the booklet feel consistent and vibrant, with negative space incorporated to aid visual hierarchy.
